The portable lap computer

The laptop is also called notebook or lap computer, because it is easy to carry and can be used on your lap. Very useful when you are sitting on the couch and you can do the administration via the laptop, you can buy articles on the internet or just want to ‘Google’. But when did the laptop actually originate?

A 10kilo laptop

The very first portable laptops came on the market in 1980. The first step to a smaller and portable computer was taken then. However, the device was not very user-friendly, because these laptops weighed no less than 10 kilos! An example of this is the laptop called ‘Osborne 1’. The screen of this laptop was very small. A heavy device with a screen of a few cm. large does not sound very ideal.
An exclusive notebook

A year later, in 1982, the laptop called ” GRID compass” appeared. The screens of these laptops were very small. This screen is now comparable to the screen of a Nintendo DS game console. However, this notebook had a major disadvantage, namely the price tag. This made the device an exclusive model that was only used for the rich business world.

Touch pad and LCD screen

After the first types were put on the market, many other models were created. One of the most notable laptops in the 80s was the ‘Gavilan SC’. It had an LCD screen, a touch-pad-like control and could even be connected to printers. In the 90s the technology was rapidly further developed and more and more modern versions of laptops appeared on the market.
Today there are so many types of laptops on the market. Large small, black, pink, blue, for business or private use, Apple or Sony .. there is plenty of choice for everyone. Thanks to modern technology, repairing laptops has also become a lot more user-friendly. Because almost all laptop parts are available separately, laptops can also last longer.
