The landowner of the illegal dumpsite in Bukit Teh, near Machang Bubok and the operator of an illegal factory there were fined RM2,000 each after both pleaded guilty at a magistrate’s court on Thursday.

In March, The Star reported the discovery of a 6.5ha dumpsite in Bukit Teh near Machang Bubok in Bukit Mertajam.

The marshland site was filled with plastic waste, discarded furniture and construction debris.
